ABOUT US
MEET PASTOR LARRY & LADY RENEE SAVAGE
Larry D. Savage, the senior pastor of Proverbs Missionary Baptist Church, was born in Pineville, Louisiana. His family moved to Oakland, California when he was four years old. A true Bay Area native at heart, Pastor Savage graduated from Castlemont High School in 1969. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1975. His career took him from AT&T to Chevron, where he retired after more than 20 years of service. In 1981, he married Renee Savage and they were blessed with two daughters. Pastor Savage devoted his life to Christ in 1988 and was called to the ministry in 2014.
CHURCH COVENANT
Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior; and on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; we do now in the presence of God, angels, and this church assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into this covenant with God and one another, as one body in Christ Jesus.
We are here at Proverbs Missionary Baptist Church, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love and to strive for the advancement and growth of this church. With knowledge and holiness, we give this church a place in our hearts, prayers, and services above every organization of human origin; we sustain its worship, ordinances, disciplines, and doctrines; we contribute cheerfully and regularly, as God prospers us, towards its expenses, for the support of a faithful and evangelical ministry among us; and we provide relief to the poor and spread the Gospel throughout the world.
We are further engaged to maintain family and devotion; to study diligently the Word of God; to educate our children religiously; to seek the fellowship of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk spiritually in the world by faith; to be kind and just to those in our employ, and faithful in the services we promise others; endeavoring in the purity of heart and good will towards all men and women to exemplify and commend our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
MISSION STATEMENT
Engaged by the Holy Spirit, we at Proverbs Missionary Baptist Church walk together with Jesus in Christian love. As a spiritually united body of believers, we strive to follow the Lord’s Word. We know the good news of salvation through the Lord Jesus and share that good news in our church, our community, and throughout the world in order to develop an everlasting relationship with God. We pray and strive for all saints to truly know and love God, as a strong relationship with the Lord Jesus counts for eternity. Everything else is perishable.
